The first signs which might indicate a gingivitis problem are: spontaneous gum bleeding or bleeding during brushing and flossing, or even during mastication, pain and discomfort on the site.

These are indications that the gum is sick and needs care. In addition to these symptoms, the disease can cause bad breath, secretion around the teeth and leave the gum red and swollen.

The gingivitis is an inflammation caused by the accumulation of bacterial plate on the dental surfaces near the gums. This plate must be removed daily with brushing and flossing. When this does not happen, the plate accumulates, increasing the amount of bacteria which infect the gums.

At this stage the treatment is more simple; that's why the sooner the individual seeks the dentist, the easier the cure will be. If the treatment does not take place soon, the inflammation increases and can reach the bone which holds the teeth, with a risk to cause not only the disturbance, but also the loss of teeth and bone loss around the tooth. The great danger is that usually the individual does not realize the disease evolution and will only realize it when the tooth is loose and about to fall.

Treatment

In order to treat gingivitis, the dentist will remove the bacterial plate and the stains that cover the tooth surface, though scrapping, prophylaxis, coronary polishing and fluor application. The main procedure will be orientation regarding the ideal oral hygiene notions to avoid diseases like this.

It is important to highlight that, most of the times, gingivitis is caused by an incorrect oral hygiene, because many people do not know exactly how to use the tooth brush and dental floss. In this case, daily brushing of the teeth, at the recommended times, does not satisfactorily remove the bacteria, which will continue to promote the gums disease.

The secret is to learn the correct oral hygiene, to be aware and remember that the best treatment is always prevention, together with the frequent assistance and orientation from a professional, who will help you to maintain the oral health and, this way, endure a good quality of life.
